Greg,
Funny, your best prof was Burge....& mine was Ryrie. Strange we end up both being strongly influenced by our best/favorite profs. Oh, well....lets both go back to the Texts and study more for ourselves.

Glad you could use a comment of mine in a message. Cool! Now, you've set the bar pretty high and I'll have to think of something else cool to say. Presently, nothing is coming to mind. Sorry. On the other hand, I sure am enjoying being inside....and looking at a foot of snow that has fallen today at our place.

Blessings!

Thanks for stopping by Harry. I obviously tend to agree with Burge, for many reasons, many of which are because he was my best NT professor and he shaped my theology tremendously, and I am not a dispensationalist, but it is a great read and for both sides of the aisle. He offers some challenging thoughts regardless of our positions.

Bye the way, I used your last comment on my blog in one of my sermons. It was when you were talking about the effects of the Koran burning guy. It made a great illustration!

Peace-

Greg,
Jesus and the Land sounds like an interesting read. Read a review of the book.... http://sk-schultz.blogspot.com/2008/04/book-review-gary-burge-whose-land-whose.html

I'd probably have to disagree with Burge's conclusions, as I still hold to the typical "Dispensational Premillennialist persuasion". (Note: On the other hand, I do not send money to Israel, so that more Israelites can return to the Land, and thereby speed up the return of our Lord.)

We can still be friends & "family".

This was my summer reading list from 2009. I mention it because God used it to completely change my heart and life. After coming to Christ at 21 in the early '80's, I spent the next three decades fluctuating between desperately seeking to please a God who seemed distant, and being so frustrated with the whole mess that I would (almost) call it quits. I had reached a "call it quits" point when I happened upon an online article about open theism (OT). The article sparked a desire to know more so ....I bought and read the following books:

The God Who Risks-John Sanders
God of the Possible-Greg Boyd
Divine Foreknowledge: Four Views-James K. Beilby and Paul R. Eddy
Is God to Blame?-Greg Boyd

The result for me has been a year of the most amazing closeness and fellowship with the God who loves me and desires an intimate fellowship that surpasses anything that I had ever dreamed possible.
