Your "Mistakes Pastors Make" was a worthy read, brother. Thanks for providing it.
I am a Nazarene Ordained Elder - though serving in an EFCA church due to that whole "sovereignty" thing.
I have never taken time to read a blog in my life - please take this as sincere appreciation and affirmation. In the words of Dr. Seuss "Go Dog, Go!"

Hrm. What do you mean when you say that "I think that you have over simplified the nature of some of the Emergent Nazarene posts"? Please keep in mind, I haven't read the entire site, just stuff that's linked from the initial page. Also, feel free to respond to my email if you prefer, rather than cluttering your comment section.

My observation is less that the arguments being made are simple, so much as that there are people with a post-modern/emergent view attempting to converse with people with an extremely modernistic view, and in many cases, the people speaking from a modernistic view literally don't hear the same things being said as the emergent members, which creates argument. So it's not being hypercritical, so much as evidencing a semantic breakdown.

Todd, thanks for noticing the change in my profile that blogger didn't reflect. I have updated it.

I think that you have over simplified the nature of some of the Emergent Nazarene posts, there are very different voices being reflected. I think my own voice has changed quite a bit in the past 2 years as I have blogged. I agree that hypercritical attacking blogs don't serve the kingdom much.

As far as online communities that are full of lots of non-pastors, I would check out The Ooze which has some great discussions happening. Locally, it is hard, depending especially on where you are located. Where in Arkansas are you? My wife is from Fayetteville.

Thanks for stopping by

1. The link for your profile off of Emergent Nazarenes (http://www.blogger.com/profile/4409350) refers to a page where you're attempting to do emergent worship (www.evolutionworship.com) which no longer exists.

2. The irony in your profile here must confuse the crud out of anybody who isn't paying attention. Is it a purposeful filter?

3. I noticed that the last major post you made under the Nazarene header (back in 2006) turned into an enormous "Hey Mr. Cheney, is that a shotgun or..." affair. As all of these things seem to do, eventually. Most of the stuff I've looked at on the Emergent Nazarene page seems to run into the same effect. I can't really quantify that quality yet, but there's an emotion behind it, isn't there, sort of a defensive, fearful attacking thing which is entirely against the nature of Christ, but which there's no way to communicate to the person experiencing it.

4. Having "grown up" on bbs culture, it's very weird being in a blog atmosphere where replies can take forever or be non-existent. Due to living in Arkansas, I wind up looking for community online, but the majority of informed views I find are other Pastors (most of my friends locally are pastors, and while they're wonderful folks, they tend to be extremely time limited, as I expect you are yourself.) How does one find a non-pastoral community of informed emergent believers who like to talk?
