Tag I’m It

My Life

I was tagged to play a little ‘get to know you’ blogging game from here.

Here’s the simple rules for starters:
1. Tell us eight things about yourself on your blog.
2. When you are done writing these eight things about yourself on your blog, you tag eight people and list their names to do the same thing.
3. Leave them a comment informing them they have been tagged, and to read your blog so they will know they have been tagged and are now “it.”

So here we go.

  1. I feel somewhat cheated by my church experience growing up because of my church’s lack of appreciation for and celebration of sacraments. I wasn’t baptized until I was 21. I say I did it Jesus style because it coincided with my call to ministry. But there is a part of me which mourns the lack of sacramental participation in my early years.
  2. I love sandwiches. Seriously love sandwiches. They are my favorite food group. Right now my favorite sandwich is made by a fancy, organic, locally grown shop, the kind of which you can really only find in a place like Chapel Hill, called Sandwich. (creative marketing!) The make an outrageous BLT that has BLT, grilled jalapenos and avocados. It is unbelievable.
  3. If I wasn’t a pastor I believe that I would be a sports writer or broadcaster, probably a broadcaster.
  4. I have no idea what my ethnic make up is. I am a mutt. With all of my family hailing from West Virginia or Kentucky (insert joke here), no one seems to know where we came from. I have heard German, Welch, Italian, and others. When I was in middle school my sister and I decided to claim we were Italian. We liked the idea of being Italian. We look Italian, Italian families seem like big expressive groups, and we like the food. So when someone asks, I naturally say I am Italian. I have no evidence to back this up.
  5. I pass out when I give blood. I don’t pass out because the sight of blood affects me, my body just passes out when blood drains from it. I guess I bleed quickly or something.
  6. I tried for the better part of a decade to be anything other than a Nazarene and God wouldn’t let me.
  7. When I was in college I thought about majoring in philosophy. But I checked and there weren’t many philosophy shops hiring during the 90′s so I went another way.
  8. I think that when it comes to Canadian entertainers there is Neil Young and then there is everyone else. Except for Alan Thicke maybe.
  9. My first concert was Vanilla Ice, En Vogue, and MC Hammer. I am proud of this fact.
  10. My favorite scripture passage as a child was Zephaniah 3. The verse that always stuck out for me, based on a song we used to sing at camp, was 3:17 which in the good king’s language says, “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

So there is my tagging response. I will now tag these friends.( I don’t know that I have 8 friends who haven’t already been tagged via this little experiment.)

  1. Shannon Says:

Really? You like sandwiches. Really? I never knew this. Next thing you’re going to do is tell me you’re from Maryland or something crazy like that.

So I’m intrigued by this first concert. Were all three acts on the same card? If so, strange unique mix of music. Two bad rappers and Destiny Child before there was Destiny Child.
