This might just be the oxycodone talking but….

Ramblings

Got my ankle scoped yesterday, that was a strange experience. Aside from a tonsillectomy when I was 5 or 6 I haven’t had much hospital time. I was wheeled into the operating room, moved over to the bed and that was the last thing I remember. Those drugs hit quick. It is pretty amazing. Next thing I knew I was in recovery. Not bad at all.

Pain is definitely worse today than yesterday but, thanks to my little prescription friends I think I will be okay.

Now time for some observations and rants. I figure I better get them out while I have a chemical alibi.

Ohio St. vs. LSU for the BCS Championship? Seriously. This is ridiculous. At least 6-7 teams have a legitimate gripe for not being in the game if those two are. Of course no one wanted to be there because they have all been doing everything possible to not win a championship. WVU that was ridiculous! Missouri played themselves out of the BCS all together. Bob Stoops should go into politics for all the stumping he did for his team. Too bad they lost to Colorado and Texas Tech. You can’t tell me that anyone has ever won a national title haven’t lost to both of those schools. Hawaii? They might be entertaining but compared to them OSU played a top ten team every week.  If this doesn’t prove we need a playoff nothing ever will.

My Redskins, AAAARRRRGGGGHHH what can I say. I am deeply saddened by Sean Taylor’s death, I loved him as a player. I am trying not to go ballistic for a Joe Gibbs coached teams inability to hold leads but come on. What made Gibbs great his first time around was that he was the best half time adjustment coach on the planet. His teams simply did not give up leads in the second half. His second time around his teams specialize in it. I don’t know what happened to Joe. This feels like heresy to say, but Joe may need to go. The pieces are there for this to be a good football team but we just can’t get it done!

If you are looking for a great worship CD check out Hillsong’s United We Stand. It came out about a year ago but I just started jamming on it. It is really good. It is one of the those CD’s you are tempted to skip through and just listen to a couple of the great songs over and over. But, if you listen to the whole thing, from start to finish it is put together really well.

Neil Young’s new CD is vintage Neil. There is some folk, blues, hard rock, and country sounds within the songs. The best song is called Dirty Old Man. It was written about my good friend Rob. I don’t know if Neil realizes he wrote it about him, but he did.

Do you think Nintendo has intentionally not shipped enough Wii systems to the US to punish us for all the terrible musicians we send over there on concert tours. Like maybe if Kid Rock and Hillary Duff stopped coming over suddenly there would be a Wii in every home?

I have been trying to decide what will be the next fad in music will be and I think I finally have it. We have gone through the whole rock/rap synthesizing. We have had the rebirth of swing music, the ska hiccup and boy bands galore. But I think that the rebirth of disco is coming. Along with it will come the rebirth of funk. Can’t you feel it coming? Just wait in a year you will be calling me a genius. Why wait, let’s call me a genius now!

Wow, I totally just fell asleep for like 30 seconds after that paragraph, this stuff is awesome.

Anyways, I am afraid I am going to conk out and drop my laptop. I am sure I will have another recovery induced rant sometime soon. In the meantime pray for my wife. Two kids, one who has been vomiting and she has to help me put my pants on. I don’t think this is the glorious life she signed up for.

Peace-

Greg

Don’t get me started on the WVU game. I’m still irritated by what I saw Saturday night. It wasn’t pretty in Blosserville Saturday. Disappointed would be the best word for it.

Here is my thing – I’m still against a playoff, but if Ohio State loses and Hawaii wins, how do you give the National Title to LSU over 5 or 6 teams that would have the same record.

Hope you feel better. The drugs can do wonders. Get some rest.
