It is time for some more ramblings, time to take all the randomness of my life and mind and expunge it into the world. Here we go…
I saw Transformers last night. Spectacular. Unreal. A Religious Experience! The first time I heard Optimus Prime’s voice, I felt 10 again. Except that it was way cooler than when I was ten. Kudos to Michael Bay for an awesome adaptation. It was funny at the beginning when the credits read…. In Association with HASBRO. Never seen HASBRO’S name on the movie credits before, it made me laugh. It really was a great movie, full of lots of good performances from a lesser known cast, and it was really funny. Not just geeky Transformers funny, but real people funny. It is on my top ten list of action movies.
On the down side, however, I had to pay $9 to see it. My first date didn’t cost $9. It was with Leah the girl who lived around the corner. We walked to the pizza place with the creepy owner who paid me to pass out flyers and we had a couple of slices. He cut me a deal on the sodas and we were out of there for under $6. Can’t beat it. $9 for a movie is larceny.
On the upside, the Red Box is awesome. Renting a movie for a dollar, at the grocery store, without having to even go into a store, without the annoying teenage video clerk and without waiting in line is awesome. I am going to Red Box me some Shooter tomorrow. Yeah Marky Mark for a $1, how do you like them apples?
I am heading to Arkansas for some time with my wife’s family this week. I believe my diet will be assaulted in a multitude of ways. Let’s begin with breakfast where Mommaw will make undoubtedly make bacon and home made biscuits. Lunch will be a little bit lighter, but will be followed by an irresistible piece of homemade chocolate pie. Dinner will have many items, one of which will be Spinach Casserole with the crunchy things on top. I gained 6 pounds just writing those words. Please pray for my self control.
I have been killing time this summer by watching TV shows online. I watched an entire season of What about Brian, some lame fluff drama on ABC in just a couple of days. It was pure nothingness like eating a box of marshmallow peeps at Easter. You know you get to the end, you have eaten about 4-5 chicks and yet, aside from the glitter sugar on your fingers you can’t tell you have actually eaten anything. Anyways, I realized that this show was really trying to attract the male crowd to a total girl show because this season, in order, the main character (the annoying older brother Matt from 7th Heaven) was involved with in order, Krista Allen (an oldy but goody often linked to Clooney), Stacy Keibler (from WWE infamy) and then Tiffani Amber Theissen. That is a triple play of ridiculousness. 3 bad actresses known only for sultriness in one season, I think they are trying too hard. It was like Brad Pitt being with Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie in the same month. Oh wait, didn’t that actually happen?
Finally, I’ve been listening to the White Stripes latest concoction called Icky Thump (there is a name that makes you cringe a little bit) and it is good. They are funky, strange, somewhat frightening, and great musicians. I recommend it for all you alt-rock fans. There are some real gems on the album. My favorite right now is You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told).
Peace Out-
G

How can actresses known only for sultriness be bad actresses? I am confused…of course my mind wandered after reading “bacon and homemade biscuits”….MMMM now that’s sultry!

I’m off to see Transformers this evening, I believe. I can’t wait. I’ve not heard a single person say anything bad about the movie, from what I can recall.
And I hear you about the going home food. My grandmother cooks big time when I come home, to the point my mom gets jealous when she goes to visit her. Biscuits and gravy, a small lunch, and a big dinner. My stomach gets antsy for a few days later.

Greg-
My condolences on Culpepper being cut from the Dolphins. I can only imagine the pain that you are feeling and the boundless mental stress that you are experiencing as you try and determine which quarterback you will draft in fantasy football this year. But, chin-up! It looks like Vick may not be in the ATL at the sttart of the year at least, so maybe Daunte has contacted Home Depot man for a chance to outbid Harrington for the starting slot.

Transformers the movie was, admittedly, better than I was expecting. The CG was outstanding and arguable the most realistic that I have ever seen! Who’s up for the Simpsons movie?
