David, The Corn Song is actually working against your argument-

Does the taste of the corn make it better or worse for a corn maze? Out in Colorado we took the youth group to a corn maze once and we had one kid in our youth group named Robert who was mentally challenged (not a description of an idiot teenager, but actually mentally challenged). Well we get through the corn maze and we realize that we haven’t seen him in an hour. We lost him in the corn maze. So we fan out and go searching for an hour for him. The boy genius had beaten us all through the maze, was playing in the corn museum and laughed at us when he heard us yelling his name all over the maze. Ahhh the memories of corn days past….

So, it turns out my corn competition theme song has been written already: Corn Song The verse goes along with the Gilligan's Island tune, then it turns a little more west coast with the chorus sung to Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice chorus. The bridge between the two is killer to do right, but man does it get you in the mode to eat corn when it's pulled off well.

When are you guys gonna pick your theme music for Cornoff 2006? We’re all anxious to have more insight into your respective competitive natures.

If you don’t decide…we’ll have to assign Rod Stewart’s Maggie May for the Maryland team versus After the Fire’s Der Kommisar for Iowa. What about Minnesota’s late entry? You could just use Land O’ Lake’s ad theme…Mazo-ola…corn go-odness!

I am definitely not claiming any supremacy for MD corn, but Maggie is right, cracking a bushel of steamed crabs on some newspaper with a bunch of batter and Old Bay is a great way to spend a summer day. Certainly puts a pig pickin’ to shame.

I am feeling something smooth for my theme music, maybe a classic from Otis or something from Bill Wethers, or something really kickin’ like Alive by Pearl Jam, no wait I want Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs

I am also very open to incorporating the smoke machine into many aspects of my life….
